“Go, Jesus replied, ‘Your son will live’. The man took Jesus at His word and departed.” John 4:50
We all know that a person’s word is their bond. But what if a person’s word had miraculous power, and that all they had to do was just say it, and it would happen? I imagine that person would be very popular and highly sought after - also quite envied. This is exactly who Jesus was. David said, ‘The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic’ (Psalm 29:4). This is why we pray to the Lord. He has the power to create out of nothing. We know (understand) this because His word tells us He:
COMMANDED CREATION…
“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command…” Hebrews 11:3a
The attack on God as the (our) Creator (evolution) is an attack on God Himself. If God is not the Creator, then He does not exist. If God does not exist then we command our own life and answer to no one, which means no accountability - anarchy. This is just what the devil wants, for us to disregard God and elevate ourselves, just as he did in heaven. But if we recognize God as creator, as David did in Psalm 89:11, ‘The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it’, there is a settling in our hearts. Knowing and believing we come from, and belong to one greater than ourselves gives great comfort and peace. But on our own, we are insecure, unsettled and living in fear.
…AND IS THE COMMANDER.
“…What is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3b
The fiat of God means anything He wants, at any time He wants it, and He needs nothing to accomplish it. Our fiat means, let it be done as you have said. Whatever man does there must be something it stems from. Man needs a starting point, foundation or material to create. God, who created our world, including the air we breathe, can create something out of ‘thin air’. Because He simply needs to just ‘command it’ and it is done. We can rest in God’s authority and power and be settled with it and in it. In doing so, we’ll have faith in God for everything.
