From the Creator

”He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him.” John 1:11

There are many theories of how we got here. Evolution says we evolved here, possibly after some ‘big bang’. Others believe we were intelligently designed by God. Whatever your belief, I believe He chose to not only create mankind, but to love and save us. Free will had to be given so we could have a real relationship with God. But we made a bad choice, choosing self over serving Him. This is why Jesus came to earth. But He went to and through a very specific people - the descendants of Abraham (Israel), God’s friend. He chose them to be a holy nation, His treasured possession, and a light to the world. The problem was, Jesus came to His own, but His people, as a whole, did not receive Him. Isaiah 53:3 said, He would be, ‘despised and rejected’. Even though Jesus was rejected, He still, out of love, reaches out to everyone today. Because of His compassion, God will not give up on His creation.

…TO OUR FATHER

”Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision…, but born of God.” John 1:12-13

But there were some who did choose Jesus - those who believed in his name. And for those who did believe, God gave them the right to call Him, not just the creator, but their Father. We who have put our faith in Jesus are now born of God, adopted into His family. Our decision fulfilled God’s original desire - a relationship of Father to child. This relationship with God gives us authority (rights) from heaven to live, speak, and to act on behalf of His kingdom. In fact, God wants us to represent Him as ambassadors of the kingdom we are now citizens of. One of the blessings of being members of God’s family is that He chose you to be His child - born of Him, not of human decision or descent. It was God’s will that we are a part of His family. This is what is so special about adoption - God didn’t end up with us, He chose us. And as family, we also receive the full shares of Jesus - what He gets, we get.
