”I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.” Luke 19:21
Has there ever been anyone who is more misquoted, misrepresented or misunderstood than God? Even His own ministers and priests have misjudged Him to millions of people down through the ages. Consequently, people have mistaken God as a hard, overbearing, bean (sin) counter, who can not be pleased - so what’s the point? Could it be that we are the ones who are wrong about God? Maybe, we should take Him at His word? He tells us He is loving and good and we should not fear Him. This is because God, of all the billions of people on earth is…
THE REASONABLE ONE…
”Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 (ESV)
So many people’s view of God is not only wrong, but very unreasonable. Rather than seeking (see / king) Him for themselves through His own words, they take bits and pieces from here and there to formulate an image of God that either suits their needs, or excuses what they do. This is unfair to God, and no help for them. From the beginning, God has been transparent about who He is, and an open book regarding what He asks of us. ‘Man’s’ problem, is God, in their reasoning, does not fit their life. All God wants is to talk it out. But if we don’t talk it out, we can’t work it out, nor work together - what He wants.
…WHO RECONCILES US.
”If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18
God has desired to live at peace with all people from the very beginning. He actually created us for genuine fellowship. But because of our sin, our life is full of loss - the first and most under valued is our relationship with God. Because He is holy, God can’t even look at sin, and so when we did sin, a separation with Him occurred. This is why we need Jesus to fix the mess we made and give us an opportunity to ‘get right’ with God. What’s amazing about God is He is the wronged party and the one who wants to make amends. The offended seeks to reconcile - only our God!
