My Kingdom

”…We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way.” Isaiah 53:6

The very fact we could even go astray means we are in charge of our lives to some degree. Certainly we cannot control everything in our lives, but there are many areas where we do call the shots - this is what makes us kings, and our lives our own ‘kingdom’ (realm). The proof of this is (as adults), if we want something, in spite of all the warning labels, we will do it, and if we don't want to do something, we won't do it, even if it’s beneficial for us.

”Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.” James 1:14

God doesn’t tempt me - I am tempted by what I desire. This is the cause of my conflict with His kingdom. God has a design for my life, but I want what I want. Now I, like many others, have given the reins of my life over to His reign. I did this once and for all, but sadly, I’ve had to do this again and again. The boss of my life is in constant flux between myself and God. He never wavers, I’m the one who often struggles with being double - minded. Moving forward, it is my desire to align myself with…

HIS KINGDOM.

”Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest… My kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36

If God so desired, He could set up His kingdom on earth - and every knee would bow before Him. But this is not the kingdom God wants. He doesn’t want loyal subjects because of His power, He wants loving servants who prefer His ways over theirs. This was why Israel struggled with Jesus. They wanted a kingdom of power (like David) to destroy their enemies. Little did they know their real enemy was themselves (sin). Jesus came to bring a king-dom based on peace that would impact their hearts. It is not the ‘world’ God desires to rule, it is Israel - it is us.
