No Scarecrows Here

”For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

God gave us a brain, which is a good thing, or it can also be a bad thing - all depending how we use it. The fact that God gave us the ability to think for ourselves puts our relationship with Him at risk. We can reject His ways and what He says and follow our own ‘doctrine’ (a way of living based off ideas and information). There are many ‘authorities’ on how to live: Culture; science; sociology; mathematics; and clearly, our ‘trustworthy feelings’. All the doctrines mentioned have changed over the years. But there is one constant - God’s Word. His word is truth, and truth never changes - it can’t or it ceases to be truth. This is the difference between fact and truth - facts can change (alter) with new information, but God’s Word is…

”All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16

A builder would be a fool not to believe or trust a level - an independent tool of what is true and what is ‘off’. One could doubt or argue with the level but that would be pretty silly, and the level would not care - it simplyntells you the building is true or FALSE. The same is true of the Bible when building a life: marriage; family; business; finances; relationships and most importantly, our walk with God. If our foundational material (information) is wrong, everything flowing from it will be incorrect as well.

”By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” Psalm 19:11

The Bible teaches what is true and right not to spoil our ‘fun’ or restrict our freedoms. The Author, our Father, cares deeply for us and does not want us to hurt ourselves or others. This is the purpose of the Word of God - to warn us of danger and help us to prosper in every facet of life. This is God’s will for us and we can fight it all we want, but truth doesn’t change because we disagree with it. If we follow His Word we will blessed in every way.
