Something To Boast About

"This is what the Lord says: 'Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,' declares the Lord." Jeremiah 9:23-24

If there is anything we can boast about or be proud of, it is in the truth that God saved us by His grace and not by anything we've done. We take pride in what Jesus did for us on the cross. Because of Him, we've been graced to know and understand God. In Galatians 6:14, Paul said it this way, 'May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.' In this boast, we rejoice because we have…

"…Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2

Because it is 'Just - If - I'd never sinned in God's eyes', I am no longer at odds with Him. We, God and I, have been made one through Jesus. Therefore, I have peace with God. Because I have peace with God, I can walk in the peace of God and am now a peaceful person, who makes peace with others. If I never make peace with the God of Heaven, I will never experience genuine peace on earth. And no amount of money, fame, awards, honor or popularity will ever bring peace to my soul or give me access to God. But, having put my faith in Jesus, I boast in the hope of the glory of God, where I belong, have standing and a home.

"Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!" Romans 5:9

Because of our peace with God we are no longer His enemies. There is a peace treaty that was enacted by the blood of Jesus. But this contract will last only as long as He is living - so, forever, hallelujah! What is more, is this treaty sets me free from the wrath of God. He is not mad at me anymore for the sins I have committed and still commit. This is because all my sins are paid for and I have peace in knowing that I've been reconciled (united) with God.

"Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." Romans 5:11
