RELATIONSHIPS
“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” Amos 3:3
The very reason God created Adam was because ‘they’ wanted a relationship with PEOPLE. Why, I’ll never know because we can be a huge headache. But God’s nature is LOVE and He wanted us to experience this from Him. The reason God created Eve was because He said, ‘It is not good for man to be alone’ (Genesis 2:18). God knew life is best when shared. But in order for people to share, we must come to an agreement: a meeting of mind and heart; a set of rules; boundaries and a vow to uphold them. This is when trust, based on a commitment comes in, because without trust we can’t agree, thus, no relationship. It is the same with God - we must agree with Him and trust Him. Every good relationship has to be built on trust, which Adam broke when he sinned. But God made plans to be friends with us and His plans can’t be stopped. Jesus came for us and He’s not leaving us. This is why we trust Him with…
THE ANXIETIES WE HAVE…
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” Proverbs 3:5a
We absolutely must put our trust (refuge, confidence, assurance, boldness and hope) in the Lord. But what’s also important is it must be with our heart - ALL of it. This means with everything we have, and about everything we have. Our heart is the center of our intellect and WILL. It is also the place where fears and worries reside. All of our concerns and all we love, consist of the heart. This is what we are trust the Lord with and about - in short, you.
“Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8
…AND THE ANSWERS WE SEEK…
“…And lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5b
We lean (faith) on what we believe is our source and support system. It is what we rely on and find rest in. This usually ends up being what we think we know, our past experiences, or what others, whom we trust, have told us. Sometimes we are right, but not all the time - GOD IS. He is the answer to: life’s questions; the solution for every problem and the hope to everyone who hurts. Let’s trust God and not our own thoughts and ideas.
“Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?” Isaiah 2:22
